Alejandra Mendez: Access to Lifesaving Radiotherapy Should Never Depend on Where a Child Lives

Alejandra Mendez, President of Childhood Cancer International, shared on LinkedIn:

“Excited, proud, and honored to join ‘The Power of Partnership: Rays of Hope for Childhood Cancer’ during London Global Cancer Week 2026!

A privilege to share the stage with such distinguished colleagues: Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo, May Abdel-Wahab, Thomas Merchant, Daniel Moreira, Catherine Lam,  Roberta Ortiz, Rob Pieters, Geraldine Arias de Goebl, Bente Mikkelsen and Tomoaki Tamaki.

As President of Childhood Cancer International, I am particularly grateful for the opportunity to bring the voices and lived experiences of children with cancer and their families into this important conversation.

Access to lifesaving radiotherapy should never depend on where a child lives. Meaningful partnerships can help us close these gaps and turn global commitments into real change for children and families.

My sincere thanks to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for bringing together perspectives from World Health Organization, SIOP and Childhood Cancer International.

Thank you for keeping childhood cancer on the global agenda!
Every child, everywhere.

Please join us!

Date: Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 1:00–2:00 PM London time | 7:00–8:00 AM CT

Register.”
