Ahmad Fitri Idris, Consultant Medical Oncologist at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I recently attended the ACP/UKSMO Conference in Birmingham – a fantastic meeting with a strong focus on AI and the evolving complexity of clinical trials.
One idea stayed with me throughout:
AI can predict – but clinicians must decide.
This reflects what I’ve seen in early-phase oncology at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust where decisions are made under uncertainty, not just data. I’ve explored this further in my recent work , where I argue that AI will not replace oncologists – it will redefine us.
Grateful to reconnect with my clinical supervisor at The Christie Professor Fiona Thistlethwaite and meet many colleagues shaping the future of oncology. Glad to meet my previous fellow colleagues at Christie Dr Yetunde Owoseni, Andrew Kidd.”
