Enrique Soto Perez de Celis, Geriatric Oncologist and Associate Director for Global Oncology at the University of Colorado Cancer Center, shared a post by University of Colorado Anschutz Cancer Center on LinkedIn, adding:
“Very excited to see our geriatric oncology clinic officially launched at University of Colorado Anschutz!!!
What makes this program special is the people behind it. This has been a truly multidisciplinary effort, with collaboration across oncology, geriatrics, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation, nutrition, and supportive care. This team-based approach is essential to caring for older adults with cancer, who often have complex and unique needs.
We’re just getting started, but our goal is ambitious: to improve the lives of older adults with cancer across Colorado and build a model of care that can be scaled beyond our institution.
Grateful to be part of this team.”
Quoting University of Colorado Anschutz Cancer Center‘s post:
“At the CU Anschutz Geriatric Oncology Clinic – the first of its kind in the state of Colorado – clinicians from the Division of Medical Oncology and the Division of Geriatrics in the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine, with input from physical therapy, pharmacy, nutrition, and social work, collaborate on an individualized care plan.
‘In our clinic, a geriatrician conducts an in-depth analysis of the specific issues that people are facing, and that is used to provide them with supportive care interventions and also to optimize the treatment according to what we know about the benefits and risks of treatments with age.’
