Jenny Luisi, Research Fellow at IEO Istituto Europeo di Oncologia, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“New Publication Alert!
I’m very happy to announce that our systematic review titled “Evaluating the efficacy of rTMS for the management of pain and psychological aspects in non-central nervous system cancer patients: a systematic review” is now available online.
This work explores how repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) can serve as a non-invasive, non-pharmacological approach to managing: cancer-related pain and psychological symptoms such as depression, highlighting possible overlapping neural circuits between pain processing and emotional regulation.
Why it matters:
- rTMS shows promise as an alternative or complementary therapy for cancer patients who might not benefit fully from conventional pain management.
- The evidence for its effects on mood adds an important dimension, suggesting that treating pain and psychological distress might share therapeutic pathways.
