“For over 100 years the goal of endocrine therapies for breast cancer has been to achieve absolute inhibition of estrogen receptor signaling in tumor cells. However, it is now apparent that the efficacy of existing therapies is also influenced by their cancer cell extrinsic activities in tumor associated immune cells. In this review we detail what is known about estrogen signaling in NK cells and how this can be manipulated for therapeutic advantage.”
