Natasha Azzopardi Muscat: The Novel Medicines Platform to improve access to novel medicines in the WHO European Region
Natasha Azzopardi Muscat,
“2 days, 30 countries, 6 industry organizations, 12 partners, 14 NGOs.
The Novel Medicines Platform is bringing all stakeholders to the same table to discuss how to improve access to novel medicines in the WHO European Region.
Over the past couple of days, we’ve engaged in transparent and productive dialogues with representatives from various countries, members of civil society, and industry leaders. We firmly believe that by fostering a shared understanding among all stakeholders, we can catalyze the change we wish to see.
The NMP working groups have been proactive in proposing a series of pragmatic, multistakeholder solutions. These proposals symbolize a shared vision and a mutual commitment to advancing the access to medicines agenda.
Looking ahead, among other elements, I see the need to focus on:
1. A dashboard to collate information on access to medicines the WHO European Region
2. Continued engagement through the Novel Medicines Platform, providing a safe space for the exchange of ideas and experience towards our final goal of securing access
3. Immediate bespoke actions to address identified bottlenecks at country level through a multi stakeholder commitment
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to work towards our mission!”
