Carmen Uscatu: Children’s Call for Hope
Carmen Uscatu, Founder and President of Give Life, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Children’s Call for Hope.
‘In God we trust, all others must bring data.’ says William Edwards Deming.
The data shows that there is room for improvement in Romania. The hospital built by Dăruiește Viață can be the place where a child with cancer has an extra chance at life. It is a place where medical teams work together, bringing together all medical specialties dedicated to pediatric cancer treatment for the first time. Additionally, there is collaboration with the best specialists in the world.
On Sunday, the International Symposium on Pediatric Neurosurgery with the theme ‘Surgical Treatment in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology. Current Stage of the Technique’ took place at Marie Curie Hospital. Among the speakers were: Prof. Dominic Thompson, Great Ormond Street Hospital London (President of the European Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery); Dr. Alexandru Szathmari, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Lyon (a Romanian doctor operating in one of the largest centers in France); Dr. Radek Frič, Oslo University Hospital (President of the pediatric neurosurgery section of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies); Prof. Luca Massimi, A. Gemelli Hospital Rome (the most prestigious hospital in Europe in this field), dr. Martina Messing Junger, Asclepios Hospital, Prof Federico di Rocco, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Lyon, dr Martin Schuhmann, Tubingen University Hospital, dr. Ulrich-W. Thomale, Charite Hospital Berlin, prof Ioan Stefan Florina, Dr. Sergiu Stoica, dr. Ovidiu Banea.
Collaboration is the key. Collaboration to ensure multidisciplinarity in the treatment of pediatric cancer within the hospital’s medical teams. And collaboration of these multidisciplinary teams in the hospital with the best in the world.
In March, the first international medical event dedicated to collaboration took place, organized by Dăruiește Viață together with Marie Curie Hospital. Two months later, the doctors from the neurosurgery department, Sory Nick, SORIN TARNOVEANU, and their colleagues together with Societatea Romana de Neurochirurgie hosted, along with us, this symposium dedicated to pediatric neuro-oncology.
Let’s continue to support the cause of children with cancer. Because there is no better cause than life.”
