Patients’ fears can be realistic risks, and we may need ways to avoid the meds, alleviate side effects, or set safeguards. Sometimes worries (like the idea ‘taking pain meds is a sign of weakness’) need care to unpack and reassure.
But if you don’t ask, you won’t know!”
