Udhayvir Grewal: Palliative Care Consultation and End-of-Life Care in Esophageal Cancer
Udhayvir Grewal, Resident Physician at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, shared a post on X about a recent article by him and Suriya Baskar:
“Proud of Suriya Baskar MD for leading this important work on end-of-life care in esophageal cancer, just out in JCO Oncology Practice.
Palliative care (PC) in advanced esophageal cancer was associated with shorter hospital stays, lower costs, higher rates of DNR status, and reduced use of invasive interventions at end of life.
However, Black patients were less likely than White patients to receive PC or have DNR status, highlighting disparities in EoL care.”
