Luis Diaz: Reflecting on the Early Days of Liquid Biopsy Before ctDNA Was Even a Term
Luis Diaz, Head of the Division of Solid Tumor Oncology within the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, shared an article on LinkedIn:
“I was asked to write a Nature Medicine “Turning Points” piece, which came out this week about an influential paper we published in 2008.
Writing it made me reflect on the early days of liquid biopsy—before ctDNA was even a term. What once felt improbable has become part of how we treat and monitor cancer today.
Special thanks to my co-authors: Frank Diehl, Kerstin Schmidt, Michael Choti, Katharine Romans Judge, Steve Goodman, Meng Li, Katie Thornton, Nishant Agrawal, Lori Sokoll, Steve Szabo, Ken Kinzler, Bert Vogelstein and Johns Hopkins Medicine.”
