Rafael Grossi: Monumental steps in ensuring quality cancer care is accessible to all, regardless of geography
Rafael Grossi, Director General at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), shared on their LinkedIn:
”Today, ahead of World Cancer Day, we celebrated two years of impact through International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s Rays Of Hope and reinforced our united front against cancer with World Health Organization’s Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Two years on and the impact of Rays of Hope (RoH) is tangible: from the first public LINAC in Honduras to new oncological centers in Malawi, the Dominican Republic and Panama, to name a few. These advancements are monumental steps in ensuring quality cancer care is accessible to all, regardless of geography.
I was inspired by the story of resilience from Bianca Muniz and by the insights from countries that are receiving support through RoH, including opening of first national cancer center in Malawi and ongoing support to Panama and Uruguay.
Also, a big thanks to our donors and partners in hope. Their support is crucial in bridging the €46 million funding gap for RoH projects, ensuring that the momentum we’ve built continues to grow, reaching every corner of the globe where help is needed most.
As we mark World Cancer Day, let’s remember that our collective efforts are saving lives every day. The journey is long, but together, with steadfast commitment and collaboration, we can make Cancer Care accessible for all.
Recording of the event is available here.”
