Putzer Hung is the Recipient of the 2025 AACR-John and Elizabeth Leonard Family Foundation Basic Cancer Research Fellowship
American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We congratulate Putzer Hung, MD, PhD, the recipient of the 2025 AACR-John and Elizabeth Leonard Family Foundation Basic Cancer Research Fellowship.
Dr. Hung observed that acute myeloid leukemia cells produce abnormally high levels of ribosomes, which are crucial for protein synthesis. Disrupting the synthesis of ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs), which are important components of these ribosomes, significantly impairs AML cells. Dr. Hung will investigate whether targeting rRNA formation could lead to an effective treatment strategy.”
