Ruzanna Papyan: AYA with Cancer – Too Old for Pediatric Services, Too Young for Adult Systems
Ruzanna Papyan, Pediatric Oncologist and clinical research physician at the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“AYA with cancer—too old for pediatric services, too young for adult systems—often fall through the cracks, particularly in low-resource settings. At SIOP2025 in Amsterdam, our team is contributing to this critical conversation through a poster presentation developed within the SIOP AYA Global Health Network Working Group.
This work reflects the collective vision of our group, co-led with my brilliant co-chair Gabriela Villanueva, and supported by dedicated co-authors Eugenia Trigoso Arjona, Mauricio Mesa, Julia Hoveyan, Gevorg Tamamyan, Layla ElMenezaa, Mariana Nana, Maria Serrano, Venus Mushininga, Ohzono Shyuuich, Liezl du Plessis and Scott Howard
The poster shares insights, gaps, and emerging strategies to improve care access and outcomes for adolescents and young adults with cancer in LMICs — a conversation long overdue.
If you’re passionate about improving AYA cancer care, make sure to join us at the SIOP Congress 2025 in Amsterdam—visit the poster, connect, and be part of the global effort to close the gap for AYA patients in LMICs.”
