Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: Spreading Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection Across the Continent
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, UICC President-Elect of 2024-2026 and a Founder of the Medicaid Cancer Foundation, shared a post on X:
“As an advocate and member of the Africa Breast Cancer Council, I am keen on spreading breast cancer awareness and early detection across the continent. Recently, I joined the women’s fellowship of Jesus Practical Work Ministry for a breast cancer sensitisation session. The women were taught warning signs, risk factors, and Breast Self-Examination (BSE) techniques.
By meeting women where they gather, using trusted community gatekeepers, we can challenge myths and stigma, and teach life-saving knowledge, to break down barriers of fear and misinformation. Grateful to Mrs Hauwa Chinoko and these amazing women for their openness and commitment to change.”
