“The Swiss Biotech Day is a wrap!

I’m grateful for the many great conversations and would love to share a few thoughts.

There’s no doubt—the environment is difficult. The so-called ‘IPO window’ remains closed due to financial market volatility, and accessing funding is no easy task—particularly for larger proof-of-concept trials that could unlock bigger opportunities with pharma.

The overall sentiment was that the bar is getting higher. Companies need to understand both investor and pharma expectations early on—through proactive dialogue and investment in market understanding.

Paired with scientific innovation, companies must also clearly address unmet patient needs, translating science into transformative medicines.

As said by Lucas Santarelli during one of the panel discussions:
‘Companies need to develop drugs as if we would take them to market.’

Bottom line: companies need truly differentiated assets—in the eyes of investors, pharma, and all key stakeholders: patients, healthcare professionals, regulators, and also payers.

Valuations must be grounded in market realities, and shaping the right evidence early on is key to creating long-term value.

In this pursuit of building a strong value proposition, I was encouraged by the thoughtful requests for collaboration.
