Hesham ElGhazaly: Cairo Call to Action for Advancing Equity and Innovation in Women’s Cancer Care
Hesham ElGhazaly, Professor of Clinical Oncology at Ain Shams University and the Founder and CEO of Alfa Cure Oncology Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“By the year 2050, the region’s economic losses associated with breast cancer may reach USD 408 billion unless immediate strategic interventions are implemented. Investing in breast cancer early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment is estimated to yield a return on investment ranging between USD 6.4 to 7.8 for every USD invested.
On the 23rd of January 2025, the Egyptian Presidential Initiative on Women’s Health High level Dialogue ‘Advancing Equity and Innovation in Breast Cancer Care’ was held alongside the 17th Breast Gynecological and Immunooncology International Cancer Conference-BGICC in Cairo, Egypt in The presence of His Excellency Pr. Khaled Abd El Ghaffar The Deputy prime minister and Minister of Health and Population.
Regional and international experts and institutions reviewed the progress made by Egypt and discussed opportunities for replication, thereby agreeing on a set of commitments included in the ‘Cairo Call to Action for Advancing Equity and Innovation in Women’s Cancer Care’.
