Peter Guenter is stepping down as CEO of Merck Healthcare
Peter Guenter, Chief Executive Officer, Healthcare at Merck Group, shared on LinkedIn:
“Today marks a significant milestone in my career. As I celebrate nearly 40 years in the pharmaceutical industry, I will be stepping down as CEO of Merck Healthcare on June 1st, 2025, to start a new chapter in my life. While I will step away from day-to-day leadership and business operations, I look forward to continuing my work through board roles and pursuing further opportunities in private equity.
When I started my career in 1987, I could not have imagined what was ahead. But as I reflect on the past four decades, I realize that my experience has been far more than just a job—it has been a purpose-driven mission, fueled by the belief that innovation can have such a positive impact on patients’ lives.
I won’t make an attempt here to mention all of the great leaders that have been instrumental in my development through their support and trust in me, or the countless colleagues and teams with whom I have had the honor and joy to work with throughout the years—I will cherish our fantastic memories for the rest of my life.
On June 1st, I will pass the baton as CEO for Merck Healthcare to Danny Bar-Zohar. Danny and I have been working together for more than four years now, and I can’t think of a better successor to lead our team!
To all colleagues past and present, partners and friends, I say a very big thank you for giving me so much. Please continue our common noble purpose that connects all of us in our industry: giving new hope to patients in need!“
