Amil Družić: Honored to have participated in the first regional conference on combating HPV
Amil Družić, Oncology and Radiotherapy Resident at the Clinical Center University of Sarajevo, shared a post on LinkedIn:
I’m honored to have participated in the first regional conference on combating Human Papillomavirus (HPV), “A Shared Vision for Southeast Europe: Eliminating HPV-Related Cancers Together.” Held on 23 January 2025 at the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, the event brought together over 150 participants from across South East Europe. Under the patronage of Assoc. Prof. Nataliya Kiselova, Chairwoman of the 51st National Assembly, and with the support of the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) and the HPV Coalition – Bulgaria, we united around a common goal: eliminating HPV-related cancers.
In my presentation, “Intervention Through Digital Platforms: Advancing HPV Awareness and Prevention,” I showcased how social media and digital outreach in Bosnia and Herzegovina have successfully addressed misinformation, boosted HPV vaccination awareness, and fostered broader public engagement. A key next step for the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina is ensuring that HPV vaccination is gender-neutral across all regions, building on the existing progress in the country.
Among the conference’s highlights was the signing of the Joint Declaration ‘Message Across Borders’, a powerful pledge by leaders and stakeholders throughout the region to collaborate on data-driven policies, expand vaccination coverage, strengthen screening programs, and tackle shared challenges.
I’m proud to be part of this collective momentum to safeguard future generations from HPV-related diseases. Let’s continue building alliances, leveraging digital innovations, and championing inclusive health policies—together, we can Make HPV History.
