Nancy E. Davidson – Candidate for the Nominating Committee of AACR
The voting for the 2025 AACR Annual Election is now open, where members will vote for the next President-Elect, Treasurer, five Board Members, and four members of the Nominating Committee.
This year, Nancy E. Davidson, MD, FAACR is a candidate for the Nominating Committee of AACR.
Nancy E. Davidson, MD, is an adjunct professor of oncology at Johns Hopkins University and a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington.
She holds the Raisbeck Chair for Collaborative Cancer Research and serves as the executive vice president of clinical affairs and professor at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, Washington.
Previously, Dr. Davidson was a professor and division head of medical oncology at the University of Washington (2016-2023), after holding various distinguished positions at the University of Pittsburgh from 2009 to 2016, including director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology.
She spent over two decades at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she was a professor of oncology, director of the Breast Cancer Program, and an active staff member at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Davidson also held a joint appointment in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and served as a research assistant professor of pharmacology at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.
Dr. Nancy E. Davidson has played an instrumental role in the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), contributing to various committees and initiatives that have shaped cancer research and clinical practice.
She served as chair of the AACR Distinguished Lectureship in Breast Cancer Research Committee (2022-2023) and the AACR-Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Research Grants Committee (2021-2022).
Dr. Davidson was a steering committee member for the Winn-AACR Design and Implementation of Clinical Trials Workshop (2021-2024) and has been an active participant in the Science Policy and Government Affairs Committee (2020-2023).
Notably, she was the president of the AACR in 2015 and has held leadership roles in several prestigious committees, including the Nominating Committee, the Continuing Medical Education Committee, and the Tellers Committee.
Her contributions extend to scientific review, having chaired the Breast Cancer Research Foundation-AACR Grants for Translational Breast Cancer Research Scientific Review Committee and the Research Grant Review Committee.
Additionally, Dr. Davidson is a member of the editorial board for Cancer Prevention Research and has been a key figure in numerous AACR conferences and award committees, underscoring her long-standing commitment to advancing cancer research.
Education
Dr. Nancy E. Davidson earned her MD from Harvard Medical School in 1979 and a BA in molecular biology from Wellesley College in 1975.
She completed her postdoctoral training as a medical staff fellow at the National Cancer Institute (1982-1985) in Bethesda, Maryland.
Prior to that, Dr. Davidson trained in internal medicine, first as a resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland (1980-1982), and as an intern at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1979-1980).
