Megan-Claire Chase: Representation and action matter now more than ever

Megan-Claire Chase, Breast Cancer Program Director for SHARE Cancer Support, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Yesterday, I wore my caregiver ensemble and headed to my mother’s house. She was in great spirits, radiating her signature mix of brilliance, snark, and humor. Despite the pain and treatment difficulties with her blood cancer (MPN-MF), she remains a force of nature.

We delved into a heavy conversation about the orange fascist felon and the halt to cancer research—unsurprising, considering the roadmap laid out in Project 2025. The ultimate goal? To erase people who look like us in pursuit of a country that’s all.

The real tragedy is how this will stifle any research addressing health disparities tied to race and environment. Studies aimed at tackling the systemic inequities we face will be flagged, sidelined, or outright ignored.

This is exactly why institutions like the NIH, pharma companies, health agencies, and beyond need people like me—a cancer survivor, advocate, creative, and communication professional—to help write research proposals, amplify critical information, and ensure it reaches Black, POC, and LGBTQIA+ communities. Representation and action matter now more than ever.”
