Courtney Bugler Marks Two Years at ZERO with Milestones in Mission-Driven Transformation
Courtney Bugler, President and CEO at ZERO Prostate Cancer, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I recently celebrated my two year anniversary since I became CEO of ZERO Prostate Cancer.
On my anniversary, at our board meeting, I looked around the room – surrounded by dedicated, mission-driven leaders talking about strategic planning, systems change, audit controls, the role of advocacy, and how we can raise the bar on board giving – and I was struck by how far we’ve come.
When I first joined ZERO, I sat down at a Zoom screen filled with people I barely knew and a mission that meant the world to me. What followed wasn’t just change – it was transformation.
We Marie Kondo’d the organization: asking what truly served us, fit us, and advanced our mission. We made tough decisions, slayed a few sacred cows, and realigned the organization for clarity, growth, and deeper impact.
Since then, we’ve:
- Launched Blitz the Barriers, the most ambitious prostate cancer initiative in U.S. history, to eliminate systemic and social barriers to care.
- Rebuilt our team and structure for growth, innovation, and public impact.
- Redefined our mission, vision, and values — and grounded everything we do in three key impact areas:
1. Reducing the number of men diagnosed with late-stage disease
2. Helping people with prostate cancer live longer and better lives
3. Decreasing the number of deaths from prostate cancer.
We’re thinking bigger and bolder than ever before — and building the systems, partnerships, and momentum to back it up.
To everyone who’s been part of this journey — our patients and families we serve, partners, volunteers, fundraisers, donors — thank you.
Thank you for believing in this organization.
Thank you for pushing us to be better.
And thank you for coming along for the ride.
We’re just getting started. Here’s to the next chapter — and to ZERO.”
