Françoise Meunier: Powerful testimonials from cancer survivors from Malta
Françoise Meunier, Vice President of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The fight against financial discrimination against cancer survivors continues, and today I am pleased to share powerful testimonials from cancer survivors from Malta.
I am very grateful to Corinne and Martina for sharing their experience with financial discrimination. They share that, in Malta, cancer survivors are predominantly able to get loans or mortgages, but imposed exorbitantly high premiums, suggesting that they are not treated justly by financial institutions.
For insurers and bankers, survivors are still seen as liabilities, despite having been cured for years.
I very much hope that Malta will soon take the necessary steps to protect cancer survivors from financial discrimination and give them the best chance to (re)build their lives after battling cancer.
You can watch the testimonials here.”
