OneOncology’ Oncology Quality Hub has been Approved by CMS as a Qualified Clinical Data Registry
On Jan 7th, OneOncology has announced that its Oncology Quality Hub has been approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as both a Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) and a Qualified Registry (QR).
This designation reflects OneOncology’s ability to meet rigorous federal standards for collecting and submitting clinical data on behalf of healthcare providers as part of CMS’s Quality Payment Program (QPP).
What is the Oncology Quality Hub?
The Oncology Quality Hub, created by OneOncology, is a platform that helps oncologists and healthcare teams use data and insights to provide better treatment for their patients. With a focus on collaboration and quality, the hub aims to make cancer care not just more effective but also more efficient.
Key Features
Data Insights
The hub collects and analyzes clinical data from various sources. This means doctors can see patterns and trends in patient care, helping them make informed decisions that lead to better outcomes.
Value-Based Care Support
As healthcare moves towards value-based models, the hub offers tools to help practices adapt. This includes guidance on how to participate in programs that reward quality care rather than just the volume of services provided.
Regulatory Compliance
The Oncology Quality Hub is recognized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as a Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR). This means it helps practices meet important regulatory standards while improving their quality reporting.
Performance Tracking
One of the great features of the hub is its ability to track performance metrics. This allows practices to monitor how well they’re doing in key areas, helping them identify where they can improve.
Collaboration and Sharing Best Practices
The hub encourages oncologists to connect with one another, sharing insights and strategies that work well. This collaborative approach helps everyone learn from each other and enhances the overall quality of care.
“As OneOncology continues to innovate and expand quality reporting for our partner practices, we are thrilled to offer in-house MIPS support as a CMS-approved registry. Our teams have a deep understanding of MIPS program intricacies and support our partner practices on MIPS performance and program compliance requirements.
With the addition of this QCDR, our partner practices should have great confidence in their MIPS journey,” – said Davey Daniel, MD, Chief Medical Officer, OneOncology.
OneOncology, now a Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR), is empowered to create new quality measures that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) can adopt into the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Through the development of these measures, OneOncology is taking a leading role in shaping and defining clinical quality standards in oncology.
In 2023, OneOncology partner practices achieved an impressive average MIPS score of 96, reflecting an 11-point increase from the previous year. That year, CMS set a 75-point threshold for avoiding penalties under the MIPS program, with these final scores influencing payment adjustments for 2025.
Notably, 2023 marked a pivotal year for oncology practices, as many fully engaged with MIPS for the first time in seven years. This shift followed the end of the Oncology Care Model (OCM) in 2022 and the expiration of the Public Health Emergency.
The MIPS program is designed to:
– Link Medicare payments to the quality and efficiency of care,
– Promote better care processes and health outcomes,
– Encourage greater use of healthcare information technology, and
– Lower overall healthcare costs.
