Metropolis Healthcare to Expand Oncology Focus and Indian Market Presence
Metropolis Healthcare, a leading player in the Indian medical diagnostics sector, is strategically expanding its offerings with a focus on oncology and other specialized testing areas.
The company’s Promoter and Executive Chairperson, Ameera Shah, shared that cancer testing will play a significant role in Metropolis’ evolving portfolio as it diversifies into more advanced diagnostics.
This shift follows the board’s recent approval of the acquisition of Core Diagnostics, a Delhi-NCR-based company, for ₹246.83 crore on December 9.
Looking to increase its footprint, Metropolis plans to expand its presence to 2,000 towns and cities by next year, up from the 700 towns and cities it currently serves.
Shah emphasized that the company is committed to increasing the productivity of its network, and is particularly focused on strengthening its position in the north and east of India.
These markets, where the company is currently ranked third or fourth, are viewed as key growth areas. Metropolis aims to become a market leader in these regions, continuing to build market share and increase its influence.
On the pricing front, Metropolis is still evaluating potential price hikes for 2025. While the company implemented a 3-4% increase in both B2B and B2C segments earlier this year, Shah indicated that any price adjustments in 2025 are expected to be smaller.
She noted that the company’s volume growth is impressive, with Metropolis seeing an 8-9% increase in volumes, significantly outpacing many of its peers, who are growing at a rate of 3-4%.
Currently, Metropolis Healthcare is valued at a market capitalization of ₹10,565.17 crore. With its ongoing expansion efforts, strategic acquisitions, and focus on specialized diagnostics, the company is positioning itself as a major player in the evolving healthcare landscape.
