UICC and ICCP Global Review: Strengthening Cancer Control Plans is out

“Breaking News: The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and the International Cancer Control Partnership (ICCP) Global Review: Strengthening Cancer Control Plans is out now in The Lancet Oncology.
The latest review by UICC and ICCP provides valuable insights into the progress of National Cancer Control Plans (NCCPs) worldwide:
– 72 new National Cancer Control Plans (NCCPs) launched since 2018.
– 27% now include financing strategies, up from just 7%.
Early detection programmes highlighted in 90% of plans for breast and cervical cancer.
However, significant gaps remain:
– Essential medicines are included in only 26% of plans.
– Equitable access to care continues to be a challenge.
This comprehensive review underscores the need for collaborative action to ensure effective and inclusive cancer control strategies.
