You may like to read this paper: Reflections on 20 years of the Wilms Africa project: Lessons learned and the way forward.
It describes how the project started as a pilot project in Malawi and developed into a multi-centre, prospective clinical trial, with participation from nine hospitals in Ghana, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Uganda, and Ethiopia, providing relevant local evidence.
Lessons learned include ‘There are no quick fixes, ‘Keep it simple and do simple things well,’ … and many others. On the way forward, it is important to continue joining forces and avoid duplication to contribute meaningfully to the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer (GICC).
