Long-Term Adverse Effects and Complications After Prostate Cancer Treatment
A recent paper by Joseph Unger, Associate Professor at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, was mentioned by Matthias Guckenberger, Radiation Oncologist at University Hospital Zurich, on X:
“New insights into Long-Term Adverse Effects and Complications After Prostate Cancer Treatment, Radiotherapy and Prostatectomy
- Both associated with increased risks of AE compared to untreated pts
- Cumulative 12-year risks of AE 61% vs 42% after Prostatectomy and Radiotherapy”
Matthias shared this post, adding:
“Interesting observation:
- Continuous increase in AE over time after both RT surgery
- Curves are perfectly in parallel after about 3.5 years, not showing any excessive risk of AE after RT vs surgery until 12a.”
