Rachel Solomon: It takes 5 years on average from initial symptoms to actual diagnosis of NETs
Rachel Solomon, Associate Director, US Public Affairs and Patient Advocacy, Oncology at Sanofi, posted on LinkedIn:
“Today is NET Cancer Day!
Did you know that Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs) are frequently misdiagnosed with common conditions, often leading to delays in diagnosis? Globally, it takes 5 years on average from initial symptoms to actual diagnosis.
Early detection is key. This NET Cancer Day the global NET community speaks in one voice: Take a closer look at neuroendocrine cancer! I was fortunate that my NET cancer was found early, but nearly 50% of NET patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage, often due to these delays in diagnosis. Greater awareness of NETs amongst the global community and medical profession is needed.
Learn more about NETs and help raise awareness.”
