A master class on AI in GI during grand rounds from Dr. Dennis Shung – Mount Sinai Hospital GI Fellowship Program
Ali Soroush shared a post by Mount Sinai Hospital GI Fellowship Program on X, adding:
“Artificial intelligence may seem daunting to understand as a GI fellow, but we made significant progress in just a half day! Here are my initial thoughts on the experience.
We wanted to ensure the fellows had a core set of knowledge to engage with AI safely and effectively. This meant focusing on concepts over definitions and specific technologies.
Much of what you need to understand AI is already part of our medical training. We’re taught how different data types are collected, processed, and analyzed. With just a few “connector” concepts, our fellows were thinking critically about AI.
We were impressed by the depth of understanding the fellows showed. By the end, many felt empowered to dive deeper and contribute to this growing field.
A huge thanks to Tyler Berzin and Dennis Shung for their didactics. Special shoutouts to our amazing chief fellows Jellyana Peraza and Emily Leven for coordinating logistics and to Brijen Shah, Bhavana Bhagya Rao, and Satish Nagula for enabling this innovative program!
Stay tuned for the full breakdown of content and pedagogy, as well as the detailed results of our impact analysis. We hope this can serve as a prototype for high-impact AI in GI fundamentals.”

“Our first ever AI academic half day followed by a master class on AI in GI during grand rounds from Dr. Dennis Shung. Huge thank you to our all star crew of speakers — we’ve never felt more (artificially) intelligent!”
