Patients residing in the frontier region of southwest Montana will now have access to cancer infusion services closer to home – ASCO

American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) shared the following on LinkedIn:

“Patients residing in the frontier region of southwest Montana will now have access to cancer infusion services closer to home thanks to a partnership between Barrett Hospital & HealthCare, Bozeman Health Cancer Center, and Montana State University.

The new infusion center, part of our Increasing Access to Cancer Care in Rural Montana program, is using an innovative hub-and-spoke care delivery model to provide remote services for patients in the state who are too far from a referral center for convenient and routine day-to-day cancer care.

Launched in 2022, the program increases access for patients within Dillon, Beaverhead County, and the surrounding areas—addressing a longstanding barrier for individuals and their families or support systems enduring extensive travel to larger cities to receive vital treatments. The hope is the model can be replicated nationwide across rural and geographically hard-to-reach populations.
