C.S Pramesh is running for the President of UICC and the Board of Directors.

This year he’s running among other candidates including Matti Aapro, Tsetsegsaikhan Batmunkh, Stella Aguinaga Bialous, Maira Caleffi, Hana Chaar Choueib, Todd Harper, Christopher Jackson, Dilyara Kaidarova, David Kerr, Purna Kurkure, Gilberto Lopes, Kenji Lopez-Cuevas, Asem Mansour, Miriam Mutebi, Omar Nimri, C S Pramesh, Kathleen Schmeler, and Naoto Ueno.

C.S. Pramesh currently serves as the Director of Tata Memorial Hospital and the Professor and Head of Thoracic Surgery at the Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai, India.

He has been an influential member of the UICC Board of Directors since 2020 and plays a pivotal role as the convener of the National Cancer Grid, a significant initiative that connects over 300 cancer centers across India to establish uniform standards of cancer care. This initiative underscores his commitment to ensuring equitable access to high-quality cancer treatment across diverse geographic and socio-economic regions.

Dr. Pramesh’s dedication to addressing disparities in cancer care has earned him the prestigious Rachel Pearline global cancer research humanitarian award from the National Cancer Institute in the USA.

His clinical interests focus on the management of esophageal and lung cancers, with a particular emphasis on minimally invasive surgical techniques.

He is the Principal Investigator for various research studies, including randomized trials exploring cancer screening, surgical methodologies, and both neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapies for thoracic cancers.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Pramesh is deeply engaged in health services research, advocating for value-based care and addressing barriers to access. His extensive research portfolio includes over 300 peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts, and book chapters that delve into topics such as thoracic oncology, clinical research methodologies, translational research, and cancer policy.

His work not only advances scientific understanding but also informs public health strategies and policies aimed at improving cancer care delivery.

As a visiting professor at institutions like King’s College London and the National Cancer Center Graduate School of Cancer Science and Policy in Korea, Dr. Pramesh shares his expertise on a global scale. He is actively involved in advisory roles with numerous national and international research organizations, including ASCO, ESMO, and the UICC.

He has a strong interest in clinical trial design, comparative effectiveness research, and collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing cancer research.

Dr. Pramesh earned his MS, General Surgery from the Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital.

He is a Post Graduate Diplomate in Clinical Trials from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London.
