Edward Mouradian: Highlights from CancerCon2024

Edward Mouradian, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Much like this first photo, Stupid Cancer’s CancerCon 2024 was a blur.

A fun, Lonestar-themed, life-affirming, cancer-flipping blur.

This CancerCon had everything: hundreds of members of the adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer community, heartfelt tributes, powerful keynote speeches, important education, generous exhibitors, connections that’ll last a lifetime, and for me, so many outfit changes. (You really find out how much cowboy gear you have when you attend a conference in Austin, TX )

Here’s what made this year’s conference so special:

Community Spirit: Whether during sessions or in the hallways, the energy of connection was as ever present as the Chappell Roan blaring from the speakers. Every attendee shared a common goal—connecting with someone else who “gets it.”

The Stories: We heard from patients, survivors, caregivers, and advocates who turned their pain into purpose—and that purpose into community.

Memorial Moments: Yes, we were moved to tears by speakers and storytelling, and learned about AYA-related topics like sexual health after cancer and fertility challenges.

But we also danced,We sang, Some of us even cartwheeled.

Swipe through the photos to feel a fraction of the CancerCon magic
