Carmen Monge-Montero: Juan Diego’s story on how to motivate others to continue their treatment
Carmen Monge-Montero, Researcher and patient advocate at Youth Cancer Europe, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Dear Network
I’m very happy to share this interview I did with Juan Diego from Colombia. A couple of months ago, he wrote to us and told us that he has been following us since 2020 when he was in treatment. In his emotional message, he shared that thanks to our videos, he found the motivation to continue with his treatment. Now, he is ready to share his story and motivate others just like he was motivated by us.
This video is very special to me because it shows the value of what we have been doing for the last four years—giving a voice to people with and beyond cancer and creating a support group wherever our videos are watched. Thank you so much, Juan Diego, for sharing your story with us.
MANO started as a personal project four years ago to connect with cancer survivors across Latin America. After talking with survivors from every country in the region, we decided to go global. We started with interviews in Spanish, but now we are doing them in English too, and we continue doing Spanish interviews with English subtitles to reach and inspire more people around the world.
Stay tuned for more amazing stories! ”
