St. Baldrick’s Venture Philosophy: Funding Osteosarcoma Research
St. Baldrick’s Foundation shared on LinkedIn:
“In 2019, St. Baldrick’s developed its own ‘venture philanthropy’ program, working with donors to make more research happen in an area of their own interest.
The first such effort was led by Michael Egge, whose daughter was fighting osteosarcoma, and Katherine Lugar, then a St. Baldrick’s board member whose niece had died of the disease.
They brought in the Osteosarcoma Collaborative to partner with St. Baldrick’s to raise $1.5 million to make new research possible.
St. Baldrick’s issued a call to osteosarcoma researchers across the country, and after rigorous scientific review, the project chosen was one aimed at opening a clinical trial for a new osteosarcoma treatment, led by Alex Huang.
In the following video, you’ll hear from Dr. Huang as he shares an update about his work.
Donate to continue funding more osteosarcoma research.”
