Farhad Islami: Updated information on percentage of cancer cases attributable to potentially modifiable risk factors
Karen Knudsen shared a post by Farhad Islami, Senior Scientific Director in Surveillance and Health Equity Science at ACS, on X adding:
“The study finds 4 in 10 cancer cases and about half of all cancer deaths in adults 30 years old and older in the U.S. could be attributed to modifiable risk factors, including cigarette smoking, excess body weight, alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, diet, and infections.”

Updated info on percentage and no. of cancer cases/deaths attributable to potentially modifiable risk factors in the US. ~40% of cancer cases and half of cancer deaths were attributable to evaluated risk factors.”
