During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Pakistan Society of Pediatric Oncology (PSPO) announced the launch of the National Pediatric Cancer Registration Program (NPCRP) – Pakistan’s first national cancer registry for children.
In their LinkedIn post, PSPO emphasized why a cancer registry is the essential foundation of quality care:

- Informs health planning
- Improves patient care
- Supports research
- Tracks outcomes over time
Sharing the announcement, Alina Sadaf, Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist, Head of Department, added:

“The work done by Dr. Alina Sadaf and her team to develop and implement the PSPO National Pediatric Cancer Registry is nothing short of remarkable. It shoes what can be achieved through dedication, translated knowledge and thoughtful implementation.
For the first time there will be quantitative documentation of the cancer burden in Pakistani children, the cancer types and outcomes. This will lead to better planning and implementation of diagnosis and treatment strategies, eventually resulting in better outcomes and cure rates.
