Quoting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s post:
“Michael McNeil, director of the St. Jude Global Palliative Care Program, has received the 2026 SIOP North America Rising Star Award. The honor recognizes early-career professionals making meaningful contributions to pediatric cancer care, research and advocacy across North America.
McNeil was recognized for his work with colleagues and communities around the world to co-create culturally relevant, sustainable approaches to pediatric palliative care for children diagnosed with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses.
Through the St. Jude Global Palliative Care Program, these collaborations support care that responds to the priorities and resources of local health systems.
The award was conferred during the SIOP 2026 Annual Congress in San Antonio. During the congress, he chaired the Palliative Care Session and presented about communication as part of an education day developed in collaboration with pediatric psycho-oncology and nursing groups.
‘This award is a testament to the incredible group of colleagues and collaborators I get the chance to work with from around the world,’
McNeil said.”
