“From promising innovation to real-world adoption: what needs to change?
At UNGA week in New York, the International Alliance for Personalised Medicine brought together perspectives from policy, industry, clinical development and global health to explore one of the most persistent challenges in healthcare innovation: how do we create a credible path from validation to adoption?
Our Session 2, ‘De-risking Adoption: Governing AI and Aligning Evidence, Regulation, HTA, Procurement and Financing,’ examined what happens between proving that an innovation works and making it available to patients.
Moderated by Josep Figueras, the discussion brought together:

- John Longshore, FACMG, Vice President, Scientific Affairs, Global Oncology Diagnostics, AstraZeneca,

A key theme running through the discussion was the need to connect the dots earlier: between evidence and regulatory requirements, regulation and HTA, procurement and financing, and innovation and the realities of healthcare delivery.
AI adds another layer to this challenge, making questions around validation, governance, monitoring, accountability and long-term financing increasingly important.
The goal is not to lower standards. It is to reduce avoidable uncertainty earlier, and create clearer pathways for innovations with the potential to improve patient care.
