Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation shared on LinkedIn:
“Sustaining cancer research and developing breakthroughs in patient care requires steady, reliable support.
Today, we are proud to announce a significant milestone in that ongoing effort: Conquer Cancer has officially secured its 50th endowed Young Investigator Award (YIA).
We are deeply grateful to the incredible community of individual donors, foundations, and organizations whose generosity made these 50 endowed grants possible.
This milestone ensures that through these grants, at least 50 early-career oncology researchers will receive dedicated funding each year, establishing a reliable foundation of support for future generations of physician-scientists.
The transition from fellowship training to a faculty appointment is a challenging phase in a researcher’s career. YIA funding provides promising investigators with protected time to pursue their ideas and build the foundation needed to secure long-term grants.
Since the program’s inception in 1984, Conquer Cancer has funded more than 1,800 early-career scientists, with 96% remaining in oncology research to translate discoveries into lifesaving treatments.
As we celebrate this achievement and the generous supporters who brought us to this milestone, our focus turns to securing the next 50 endowed YIAs so that no promising clinical research is left unfunded.
Read the announcement and see the list of supporters who made this possible.”
