Closing the Cancer Care Implementation Gap Requires People, Partnerships, and Systems to Make It Work – C/Can

City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) shared on LinkedIn:

“The gap between knowing what needs to improve in cancer care and making it happen isn’t always a lack of knowledge. Often, it’s about having the right expertise, capacity and partnerships in place to deliver change.

That’s why technical cooperation is central to how C/Can works.

Last week in Seoul, C/Can met with the National Cancer Center Korea to explore synergies in the support both organisations are delivering to improve access to cancer care in LMICs.

Our approach follows a robust process. It starts with identifying the most pressing needs in cancer care with all relevant stakeholders, and prioritising together which solutions should be deployed to close these gaps. Through its network of technical partners, C/Can then connects the right expertise to implement projects across the cancer care continuum, ensuring improvements at health system level.

In palliative care, for example, C/Can has supported 26 professionals through leadership training and scientific visits, helping build the capacity needed to strengthen services and translate learning into practice.

Our discussions in Seoul reinforced the importance of building relationships that go beyond knowledge exchange, connecting expertise with the needs of health systems and the people responsible for delivering improvements.

Because closing the cancer care implementation gap requires more than knowing what works. It requires the people, partnerships and systems to make it work.”
