“So, after an outstanding European Cancer Rehabilitation and Survivorship Symposium, it is time to head to Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) World Cancer Congress.
I have been attending World Cancer Congresses for many years and have witnessed firsthand a phenomenal growth in Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) influence and scope.
It truly is the global voice for cancer control bringing together perspectives from all continents and settings. Many Australians have contributed to this growth, most recently Professor Jeff Dunn AO , Sanchia Aranda AM and Todd Harper and their leadership and vision has made a lasting impact on the organisation.
This year I hope to have a chance to follow in their footsteps by being nominated to run for the Board of Directors of UICC.
With nearly 100 million cancer survivors around the globe, there is an urgent need to ensure equitable care and outcomes of all cancer survivors irrespective of where they live or what cancer they are facing. After nearly 30 years of working in cancer survivorship care and research, I would like to help in that quest.
