“Day two of the World Cancer Congress is over. One of the key questions explored today was how meaningful stakeholder engagement can strengthen national cancer control planning.
As countries work to develop and implement sustainable, equitable and evidence-informed cancer control plans, meaningful engagement helps ensure priorities reflect real needs, resources are used effectively, and implementation is supported across the health system.
This requires bringing together civil society organisations, people with lived experience, policymakers, clinicians, researchers and international partners. Thank you Stella Bialous, Annet Nakaganda, Carolyn Taylor, Murallitharan Munisamy, Kareema Alraesi, Dai Min, and partner Pfizer for supporting this important discussion in Hong Kong.
Congress participants also joined a range of other sessions covering topics such as tobacco control, palliative care in resource-limited settings, flexible cancer care pathways, and protecting future generations from the harm of tobacco use and the industry’s marketing tactics.
