Benjamin Ebert: Dana-Farber Highlights Major Research Advances at ESMO26

Benjamin Ebert, President and CEO at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, shared on LinkedIn:

“At this year’s ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology Congress, recently held in Madrid, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute researchers presented findings that reflect both the breadth of our research and our commitment to bringing new and better treatments to patients.

Among the highlights:

  • Jacob Sands, presented results from a phase 3 clinical trial demonstrating that an immunotherapy combination can extend overall survival time, more than triple progression-free survival, and reduce the risk of death by 58% among patients with aggressive small cell lung cancer. This landmark study, presented during the event’s Presidential Symposium, sets a new standard of care for patients in need of new and effective treatment options.
  • Mary-Ellen Taplin, was senior author of a study investigating a new treatment strategy for patients with high-risk prostate cancer.
  • Patrick Ott, and Toni Choueiri, led sessions exploring the promise of cancer vaccines, including mRNA-based approaches.
  • Karam Khaddour, received the Best Poster in Melanoma award for his research on immunotherapy-related adverse events.

These presentations represent years of collaboration, scientific rigor, and dedication from teams across Dana-Farber. I’m proud of our investigators and the contributions they continue to make to reduce the burden of cancer in the world.

Congratulations to all who represented Dana-Farber at ESMO26.
