Benjamin Ebert: Dana-Farber Marks Historic Milestone With New Cancer Hospital

Benjamin Ebert, President and CEO at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, shared on LinkedIn:

“Yesterday, we officially broke ground on the Lavine Bekenstein Cancer Hospital at Dana-Farber.

It marks a historic milestone, not just for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, but also for the City of Boston, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the patients in our community, and the broader field of oncology.

Cancer care and research are advancing rapidly. The incidence of cancer is rising significantly and notably among younger people.

Equipped with innovative technology and the ability to adapt to advances in cancer care, our state-of-the-art new inpatient hospital is designed to meet this transformational moment now and for generations to come.

Focused solely on the complex needs of patients with cancer and designed with input from patients directly, it will enhance the experience of our patients and their families with seamless, fully integrated care supported by world-class teams of Dana-Farber clinicians and specialists from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

It was an honor to be joined by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Boston City Councilor Sharon Durkan, U.S. Congressman Jake Auchincloss, and Office of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey.

We’re not just raising a building. We’re raising the standard of care for everyone.”
