ACS Global shared on LinkedIn:
“What changes when community-based organizations help design cervical cancer prevention programs, not just deliver them?
If you’re heading to IPVS in Athens, join Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and ACS Global on October 22 for a conversation about unlocking the potential of community-based organizations in cervical cancer elimination.
We’ll bring together voices from civil society, government, research, and global health to explore the barriers to meaningful partnership, what’s working, and how we can better position community organizations as long-term partners in national elimination efforts.
Hear from:
- Sutapa Biswas, Cancer Foundation of India
- Maria Fernandez, UTHealth Houston
- Joan-Paula Bor Malenya, Ministry of Health, Kenya
- Mary Adeoye, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance
Moderated by:
- Meenu Anand, American Cancer Society
Find more info and/or join the session.
Thursday, October 22 from 12:45 – 13:45 ET.”

Cervical cancer is largely preventable, yet it continues to result in thousands of preventable deaths annually. Primarily caused by persistent high-risk HPV infections, the disease progresses asymptomatically over many years. Utilizing adolescent HPV vaccination and routine adult screening protocols, such as Pap and HPV co-testing, allows clinicians to identify and eradicate precancerous lesions before malignant transformation occurs.
