“On Thursday evening, we were fortunate enough to be hosted by Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria.
The beautiful occasion marked the 75th Anniversary of the formation of Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
It was such a great evening! Everyone was thrilled to be there, reconnect, and reflect on the mission of Peter Mac as a place that exists solely to improve treatment and care for people with cancer.
With thanks to our wonderful host and her exceptional team, to amazing colleagues past and present, to generous donors, and the kind and friendly family members of our co-founders, who can be so proud of the legacy of their ancestors.
And with appreciation to my inspiring team, who take on every new challenge with a smile and creativity.”
Quoting Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre’s post:
“Victoria’s Governor, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, last night hosted Peter Mac’s official 75th Anniversary celebrations at Government House.
The Governor, Peter Mac’s patron, generously welcomed dignitaries, staff, patients, volunteers, and the relatives of Peter Mac’s co-founders, Sir Peter MacCallum and Dr. Rutherford Kaye-Scott.
From a single room in Queen Victoria Hospital in 1949, Peter Mac has grown to be a global leader in cancer treatment, research, and education.
We are filled with immense pride and gratitude for what we have achieved over the past 75 years.
Our researchers and clinicians have been at the forefront of ground-breaking discoveries, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in cancer treatment. From pioneering new treatment modalities to conducting cutting-edge clinical trials, Peter Mac has been a driving force in improving outcomes and quality of life for people with cancer worldwide.
Beyond our scientific and educational endeavors, our dedicated staff works tirelessly to ensure that every patient receives the best possible care, personalized to their unique needs and circumstances.
As we look ahead to the future, we remain steadfast in our mission to conquer cancer through research, innovation, and compassionate care.
On behalf of everyone at Peter Mac, we extend our heartfelt thanks to our supporters.
Your belief in our mission inspires us to push harder, dream bigger, and never give up until we achieve our ultimate goal: A World Without Cancer.”
