Ravindran Kanesvaran kicks off the mUC session. Alarming mortality to incidence ratio in Asians due to access/affordability issues with new treatment, and lack of trials. Need to close the disparities gap urgently!
Honored to be on the panel with Enrique Grande and Yige Bao.
Teresa Amaral (Germany)
Positive and less positive aspects (!improvement opportunities!) as seen by the ESMO Asia 2023 group. The winner in a leadership program is friendship … so I think the ESMO team did a great job! The personal takeaways are in red!
Teresa Amaral (Germany)
A testimony to ESMO as a global society supporting oncologists around the world.
The representatives of all the societies endorsing the ESMO ASIA 2023 congress on stage!
Vivek Subbiah (USA)
The future of conferences is here!
Just had a groundbreaking experience delivering a lecture on ‘Tumor-agnostic precision medicine in the METAVERSE via Oculus device!
A virtual trip to ESMO Asia 23 Singapore via VR, interacting with oncology experts from Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and more countries in Asia—all from the comfort of a home office.
Moving my 3D avatar to the podium, engaging in a dynamic panel discussion, and presenting slides in a way that transcends Zoom/Teams or any other platform.
Still, personal face-to-face interaction is the BEST, but not having to travel 30 hours to another time zone is a MAJOR plus! Virtual conferences, bringing us together without the jet lag.
Matteo Lambertini (Italy)
Congratulations to Rachel Lam for the best poster award for the ESMOYOC patient case study at ESMO Asia 2023 and so many excellent posters and presenters. Very hard to choose only one!
Enrique Grande (Spain)
Huge congrats to all the ESMO staff who made it possible this ESMO Asia 2023. Wonderful Congress led by Laurence Albiges among others and magical society led by Andres Cervantes.
The Oncology community thank you all for giving us the opportunity to keep on advancing in cancer care.
David Planchard (France)
Reassuring to see in FLAURA2 on the first mutational analyses that resistance mechanisms are comparable in 2 arms and that exposure to chemoT does not induce new resistance mechanisms and should not impact subsequent targeted 2nd line options.
Yeon Wook Kim (South Korea)
We proudly announce that the Asia Pacific Coalition Against Lung Cancer launched our manifesto for action in lung cancer at ESMO Asia 2023. Collaborating with experts from various fields to achieve our goals in the Asia Pacific region is a true privilege!
Omali Pitiyarachchi (Australia)
Inequalities in the APAC region show decreased cancer incidence but increased mortality in LMICs:
– low screening
– poor access to drugs
– fewer oncologists, brain drain
– lack of guidelines/national cancer control plan
In Australia 2.2oncologists/100,000 population vs LMIC < 0.5.
Herbert Loong (Hong Kong)
Wonderful discussions with ESMO Young Oncologists including Margarida Matias during the “Meet Your Mentor” session at ESMO Asia 2023. Thanks, Matteo Lambertini, Liz Connolly, Hongcheng Zhu, and others for organizing these events! Always happy and keen to take part.
