Targeting HER2 With a Therapeutic Breast Cancer Vaccine – VAXICAN

VAXICAN , shared on LinkedIn:

“October is Pink. For us, it’s personal and it’s our daily work.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women worldwide. Behind every statistic is a mother, a sister, a friend, a colleague.

At VAXICAN, breast cancer is the target of our first therapeutic vaccine candidate, VAX-THx-01.

It focuses on HER2, a protein that sits on the surface of cancer cells. In about 1 in 5 breast cancers, cells carry far too much of it. HER2 works like an accelerator pedal that’s stuck, making the cancer grow faster.

Our idea is simple to describe and hard to build: teach the patient’s own immune system to recognise HER2 and fight the cancer cells that carry it.

Throughout Pink October, we will share four posts about why this month matters, prevention and early detection, where science and therapy are today and what comes next, and how each of us can support people living with breast cancer.

Follow along, share, and check in with the women in your life.”
