Sibylle Loibl: Incorporating sTILs to Prevent Overtreatment in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer

Sibylle Loibl, Chief Executive Officer at the German Breast Group Research Company (GBG Forschungs GmbH), shared on LinkedIn:

“Less overtreatment, better decisions?

A new study from the International Immuno-Oncology Biomarker Working Group demonstrates that incorporating stromal tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (sTILs) into the PREDICT prognostic model can improve clinical decision-making for patients with early-stage triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).

The updated model, PREDICT_sTILs, combines established clinicopathological factors with information on the tumor immune microenvironment. In an analysis of nearly 3,700 patients, the model identified additional low-risk patients who may be able to safely forgo chemotherapy.

These findings represent another important step toward more personalized treatment strategies for TNBC and highlight the clinical value of standardized immune biomarkers in guiding treatment decisions.”
