Ravindhi Murphy: DETERMINE Trial Reports 90% Objective Response Rate With Alectinib in Rare Cancers

Ravindhi Murphy, Consultant in medical oncology at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, shared on LinkedIn:

“We are delighted to share some results from the DETERMINE trial at the ESMO annual congress. Our poster highlights the results of the Alectinib arm of the trial, for patients with rare cancers harbouring ALK fusions.

We are particularly pleased that it includes paediatric patients as well as adult patients with rare cancers. There are seven recruiting treatment arms in DETERMINE.

These results are incredibly meaningful for patients – 90% of the patients had an observed objective response (tumour shrinkage) and this translated into clinical benefit for the patients.

The trial is sponsored by the Centre for Drug Development at Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and led by Matthew Krebs as CI. We are grateful to all the patients that have participated in DETERMINE and all the investigators at the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centres Network (ECMC) sites across the UK that have recruited patients into the DETERMINE trial.

Recruitment is ongoing and data from comparable trials will be pooled to support a case for approval or reimbursement for this rare patient group with significant unmet need.”
